I almost jumped out of my seat when I heard the words "music theorist" on the radio.
Yes, I heard this on the radio last week! Just when I was marveling at how interdisciplinary our field was—noting how much we benefit from insights made in other fields, but also wondering how often things went the other way (that is, when other disciplines actually benefit from insights in music theory). Very, very awesome, Betsy!
I'm late to hear this great news. I just want to say that the tune he plays in the fMRI scan is a Korean folk tune called Arirang.
